Project Overview

Nestled within the confines of the historic Silverstone racetrack, the Silverstone Museum emerges as a beacon of fascination for motorsport enthusiasts and history aficionados alike. This new visitor attraction finds its home within the last remaining Second World War Wellington Bomber hangar, a space meticulously refurbished and expanded to encompass a sprawling 4,000 m2 area. This vast canvas provides the perfect setting to immerse visitors in the adrenaline-fueled world of racing history and technological evolution.

As the appointed graphics contractor, the Media Powerhouse Group, working in tandem with Elmwood Projects, embarked on a monumental task: to transmute the hangar into a vibrant and interactive exhibition space. The enormity of the venue necessitated a comprehensive graphic solution encompassing over 2,500 m2 of print and experience graphics. This included crafting internal and external wayfinding signage crucial for guiding visitors through the labyrinthine marvels of the exhibition.

Project Challenges & Solutions

The endeavor faced the challenge of transitioning a wartime relic into a contemporary showcase. Rigorous sample print testing was pivotal, ensuring the selection of optimal materials and processes to maintain consistency and quality across the extensive exhibition. Replicating historical imagery demanded precision in color management, preserving and presenting the past with vivid clarity.

Moreover, the diverse exhibition components required a medley of substrates, spanning from AV projection backdrops to colossal one-piece wall canvases stretching over 14 meters, amplifying the visual allure and immersive experience for all visitors.

Outcome and Conclusion

The project materialized into an awe-inspiring and captivating exhibition, meeting and exceeding the client’s expectations. The seamless fusion of historical imagery, meticulous color replication, and the adept use of varied substrates culminated in an immersive and dynamic experience for museum-goers.

The client, highly content with the outcome, commended the Media Powerhouse Group’s meticulous approach and the enthralling result achieved. Visitors echoed this sentiment, embracing the exhibition as a captivating immersion into the riveting history of motorsport.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Media Powerhouse Group and Elmwood Projects successfully breathed life into the Silverstone Museum, demonstrating the efficacy of detailed planning, precise execution, and innovative graphic solutions in crafting immersive and captivating experiences for visitors exploring the vibrant history of motorsport.
