Michael has over 30 years experience in financial and general management and has been involved at Director level in the Audio Visual and Broadcast Presentations business for over 20 years. He has led a variety of companies within the industry including: Blitz Vision, Samuelson Communications, TP Sound Services, Interactive Television, Astonics, Charter Broadcast and Cine Video with offices in Europe, USA, Singapore and Australia.
As CEO he is primarily responsible for setting the direction of the business and secondly to develop the culture of the company. He sets budgets, forms partnerships, and hires the team to steer the company. Michael is ultimately responsible for the success or failure of the business. He works closely with the board to develop the business strategy which will ensure the profitability and growth of Media Powerhouse.
Alan started his career with the Samuelson group of companies back in 1985, moving onto Blitz in 1989 where he spent 18 years in both the event rental, sales and installation areas of the business. Alan started Media Powerhouse in 2007 with a colleague from Charter Broadcast concentrating initially on the systems integration market place. Media Powerhouse soon evolved to offer a comprehensive event rental service to its portfolio and has grown from strength to strength since then.
Alan has played an integral part in building the business to what it is today and has been responsible for growing an enviable client list , As Managing Director at Media Powerhouse, Alan will use his invaluable knowledge of the AV industry to move Media Powerhouse through the next stage of its growth.
Matt originally trained at RADA and was a professional actor for several years before joining the newly-launched events crewing company Gallowglass on a freelance basis in 1996.
He rose through the company, joining its Group Board in 2012. He was tasked with managing key client relationships – ranging from the G20 Summit and the Commonwealth Games through to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics.
Matt was also a Board Director of events industry body Eventia – from 2007 up to, and beyond its merger with trade association IVCA in 2014, to form the new body, EVCOM. During these years he actively drove membership growth and assisted with Eventia’s annual awards programme.
His professional universe now covers every type of live event, from festivals to conventions, exhibitions and public events, together with the television and theatre sectors. His brief is to foster long-term relationships, ensuring the continued growth of Media Powerhouse.
Simon started his career in broadcast working as a vision engineer for both studio and outside broadcasts before moving to the world of specialised live events with Anna Valley Displays where he learnt the art of large screen & multiscreen projection. Simon then joined Pro Quip Video Wall Rentals before being sought to head up the technical and video departments at Blitz Charter Group. Simon has worked alongside the board of Media Powerhouse since its inception, where he held the position of technical director for many years. He now advises on and designs audio, video, broadcast and control systems covering all elements of the Media Powerhouse offering, and is instrumental in advising the group’s ongoing investment and infrastructure decisions.
Charles has been at the forefront of the Audio Visual Presentation industry for over 35 years and has been at the helm of some of the largest names in the industry including the Samuelson Group and founding Blitz Communications. In 2008 Charles was voted into AV Magazine’s top 100 influential people – he is passionate about the diverse and ever changing live events industry.
As Chairman, Charles uses his unique position on the board to champion ever higher standards of client servicing.
Rashid has impressive financial management experience of companies working in both the media and movie industry. He was FD at Metro Broadcast and prior to that he was with Working Title Films. Rashid is in fact a bit of a celebrity with his very own credits on such films as Elizabeth (1998), The Big Lebowski (1998) and French Kiss (1995).
As Financial Director, Rashid is responsible for all the financial management and information systems for the company.
He first worked in AV Equipment Rental when he joined Charles Beddow and the team at Blitz Vision in their very early days ultimately joining the Board. He enjoyed the challenge and developed a number of long term client relationships through his unbridled enthusiasm. His extensive experience spanning many years has ranged from small prestigious meetings to staging elaborate international events with equal care and attention at all times.
David’s wide experience within the industry has included a high-end rental and facilities business and a production and entertainment company specialising in conference, awards and gala dinners. David also ran his own company working on food, consumer electronics and automotive accounts, which included dealer communication and involvement with travel incentive programmes.
Since joining Media Powerhouse David has proved a popular and capable member of the team and has been responsible for supplying all equipment and technical input for our growing client base of creative agencies on product launches, sales meetings, award ceremonies and charity galas.
Alex studied Computer Science at Durham gaining honours and then commenced his career in the world of Theatre and Live Events at Capo Ltd. His capability was soon recognised and he has been involved with a number of high profile events some of which were as a contractor to Media Powerhouse. Those projects included 360 Degree Projection and Control for Peter Pan and the award winning Procar/ Ferrari F1 hospitality installation project.
Alex is now pleased to have become a part of the team at Media Powerhouse where he will be responsible for managing installation and rental projects as well as helping to research new and emerging technologies.
Paul is a technical project manager and event technician with Media Powerhouse, serving central London clients from its Woolwich office. He has many years experience in the AV industry beginning his career in 1996 at Metro Broadcast and subsequently Boxx.
Paul gets great satisfaction from seeing an initial idea come to fruition as a successful event and continues to enjoy the varied and challenging nature of the business.
Terry is a technical project manager and event technician with Media Powerhouse, serving central London clients from its Woolwich office. Terry’s long career in the industry began in 1980 when he worked for REW Video. He then went on to work with Rediffusion Business Video, Cameron Communications, JVC, Viewplan, Metro Broadcast and Boxx.
Over the years Terry has established many successful long-standing relationships with both clients and industry colleagues. He continues to maintain these and always looks forward to working on new projects and at new venues. Terry is well known for his high standards and unswerving attention to detail!
Howard began his Audio Visual career at Hammonds of Watford before joining Blitz Vision in 1991. Howard enjoys close, mutually respectful relations with many UK Production and Creative Agencies and brings a good natured and calm authority to those clients who include Haymarket, H2 and Delta Conference Services.
Over the past 18 years James has enjoyed an extensive involvement in the AV and event industries. As technical project manager of many productions from touring and West End theatre to the Diamond Jubilee River Festival, James thrives on the responsibility and challenges posed by large scale or high profile live events. As well his experience in project management James also brings to Media Powerhouse a wealth of knowledge in audio system design and specification.
Eze has 10 years’ experience in the Audio Visual industry, gaining a broad range of experience in sound, lighting, video and rigging. He was most recently technical operations manager at one of London’s premier venues, The Savoy Hotel, where he was responsible for large events from the initial client meeting right through to full technical delivery on the day.
He has successfully planned and delivered events with a diverse range of high level clients such as MasterCard, Royal Bank of Canada, McKesson, The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, Institute of Certified Book keepers, Asset International, Spire Payments, Sarah Haywood Weddings, and many others.
Oli joined Media Powerhouse in January 2013 and is based at our Northampton office. He has managed rigging projects for Wembley Arena, The O2, Westfield and Bank of America amongst others.
He was instrumental in delivering the landmark, five-week long installation, “Across the Buildings”, by Swiss artist Felice Varini, at the King’s Cross development in central London. He expanded his international experience working on a large, complex loudspeaker system installation at the King Abdullah Sports City, Saudi Arabia.
Oli has brought significant 3D CAD design skills and engineering experience to strengthen the expertise and capability of the Media Powerhouse team.
Simon started his career in 2002 as a freelance live performance video artist in the North of England before specialising in media servers as a trainer at the show control systems manufacturers, Avolites. During his freelance years he worked in many areas of video from content creation through to event production. Having worked on multimillion pound productions in the areas of fashion, corporate, rock and roll, broadcast and installation throughout the world in his career, he brought with him a wealth of knowledge and industry contacts to help our clients deliver every scale of production.
