Media Powerhouse is collaborating with Hickman Shearer to deliver an online auction of professional AV, sound, and lighting equipment. This includes both legacy stock and brand new boxed items.
This partnership supports two key outcomes. First, it helps us dispose of equipment responsibly by keeping usable kit in circulation. Second, it opens up affordable access to high-quality gear for other organisations in the AV sector. For those with tighter budgets, the auction offers a way to build capability without the cost of buying new.
This approach reflects our wider commitment to responsible practice. As our operations evolve and equipment requirements change, we are taking steps to reduce unnecessary waste and extend the lifespan of professional-grade assets.
How the Equipment has Been Collected
The kit available in the auction has come from a variety of sources. Over the last five years, Media Powerhouse has acquired a number of companies including Creative Staging and Visual Systems. With each acquisition, we’ve gained equipment that is either surplus to requirements in our rental fleet or no longer needed for our current projects.
In parallel, we have carried out large-scale clear-outs of our own rental and systems integration warehouses. Some of this stock is ex-hire, while other items are brand new. Across all of it, our goal is to place high-performing equipment into new environments where it can continue to deliver.
This process has also allowed us to monetise surplus stock, which is a practical step in managing large-scale operational inventory and opens up warehouse space for investment in new technology.

Wider Access to Reliable AV Equipment
This auction presents a practical opportunity for organisations across the sector to expand or refresh their technical setup. The lots offer well-maintained, professional kit at fair market value, with condition clearly noted.
Lots include a range of condition types: some are new and boxed, others are ex-hire units in strong working order, and a number are used items suitable for spares or repair. This provides flexibility to meet a range of needs and budgets.
Each item has been assessed and grouped for clarity. Buyers can be confident they are bidding on equipment that is ready for real-world use or easily serviceable, depending on the listing.
